Photographs are the tangible memories you keep long after your special day has ended, so I think any bride’s biggest fear is for those photos to look like a dog’s breakfast. I’ll put money on it that you will never have to worry about that happening with Shalane as your photographer. Her relationship with you is collaborative, meaning she takes your vision and ideas into consideration while also making suggestions of her own to capture the perfect moments. She is also a calm presence and for someone like me that feels like a moron in front of a camera it helped to have a photographer that makes you feel comfortable. Shalane shot both our engagement and wedding photos and we put her through the paces location and timing wise. She went from a library to smack in the middle of the Jo’burg CBD without complaints – she is a pro! Shortly after we got engaged in 2013, we were searching for our dream wedding photographer when I was referred to Shalane-Mare Photography. Her wedding portfolio images were absolutely stunning! I was pleasantly surprised by the warm & friendly person that I came to know and loved the variety in her wedding packages. We did a per-wedding/engagement shoot, and this helped a lot for us to get to know her and for my fiancé and I to get comfortable in front of the camera. It was such a fun afternoon and we shared quite a few laughs. Shalane expertly guided us to find the perfect poses and locations and the images were so beautiful (along with a stunning personalized DVD cover), we actually used them for our invite & wedding website!
Building up to the wedding, Shalane was always willing to answer any questions we had and on the day, herself and her assistant photographer arrived well ahead of the per-arranged starting time – that saves a bride a lot of unnecessary stress! They captured the bridal preparations; ceremony; cutting of the cake and – despite the rain – we had an awesome wedding photo shoot, again being expertly guided as to poses and locations so that we didn’t need to worry or even think too much except for enjoying our first hour(s) as newlyweds and knowing our photos would be a lasting memory of the incredible day!
We received the final edited photographs; personalized DVD cover and an awesome wedding album (all part of our wedding package!) not too long after the wedding…and she even posted some stunning sneak previews of the photos right after the wedding so that we didn’t have to wait too long!
It really was a pleasure to work with Shalane and acquiring her friendship! I look forward to her also doing my maternity shoot one day in the future!

Memorable photo’s that I can cherish forever. She puts a lot of effort into arranging and planning your special day with you. She has no problem to making anybody feel comfortable in front of the camera. She definitely has a talent not evenly matched by any other photographer.
