This time of the year.

Every year this time as a photographer I feel exhausted. With the exhaustion comes so many questions and doubt and it is so easy to forget why you are doing what you are doing when you sit with heaps of editing, admin and still trying to balance life and a loving marriage.

Today I sat reading through some of my old posts and reminiscing over my clients from the past year. This has just once again solidified why I LOVE my work. Yes sure over the past few years I have moved my main focus from doing loads of weddings to spending more time making a difference in the lives of woman. I still absolutely love every session I take on, I have decided to only do a select few weddings a year so I can give my brides all the attention they need. At one certain wedding this year I remember sitting on the stage at Shez Charlene waiting for dessert to be served, they put all the lights off as the flaming dessert was served while Girl on Fire from Alicia Keys was playing. It is difficult to explain the immense emotion I felt at that moment while this song was playing, tears streaming down my face. It felt like I had an out of body experience seeing myself sitting there on the stage with my camera and just realizing what a huge responsibility it is to capture your wedding day. I am so grateful for each and every client, most of you have become friends and that is so touching. Being a part of your life and you being a part of mine.

One part really got me

“Everybody stands, as she goes by
Cause they can see the flame that’s in her eyes
Watch her when she’s lighting up the night
Nobody knows that she’s a lonely girl
And it’s a lonely world
But she gon’ let it burn, baby, burn, baby

This girl is on fire”

The industry can be a very lonely place but the people that have crossed my path have made all the tears and hard work worth it.

So I guess I would like to take a moment and say THANK YOU, thank you for giving me a shot and for trusting me. Behind the business lies a woman, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter and a friend. I face daily challenges like everyone else. Joy, heartache, loss, disappointment, stress and success.

Thank you for making it possible for me to make a living doing what I love.

And THANK you to all the family & friends in my life, your love and support means the world to me.
